Lower Your Ceiling Fan To The correct Height
These drop rods are for use only with the Henley Zephyr fans. Drop rods are often called extension, down pipe or down rods. They are important as they bring the ceiling fan down to the correct height for the correct and efficient operation which is about a meter above head height. The length of the drop rod will be determined by the ceiling height and the drop of the fan. If your ceiling is above 2.8m/9.2 ft then the length of drop rod that needs to be added will be whatever is needed to keep the fan at a 2.8m/9.2 ft height. A ceiling fan will still work even if it is higher than this but will loose some of its effect. If the fan blades are properly balanced then there should be no wobble even with a long drop rod.
They are available in brushed chrome, matt black, textured matt black (beautiful special powder coated/oven baked extra-hard finish), matt white and brushed brass in 24″/61cm and 40″/100cm lengths. These can be cut down to the required length.
Extra Long Drop Rod Application Guide
In general it is advisable to use a cross-member for very tall ceilings since very long drop rods will resonate a bit like a guitar string. If a cross-member is not possible then 3m drop rods can be used as the resonance in negligible and the motor itself will not wobble provided the blades are balanced correctly. Since the manufacture doesn’t provide rods this long we have designed our own custom 3m drop rods made in a local top quality fabricator. They are joined by a welded sleave that slots over the other one and is secured with a bolt and dome headed nyloc nut.
In-between sizes – The drop rods can be cut down if required and simply need a new hole drilling for the cotter pin to go into.
